A new fine art student may fine oil paint difficult to work with at the beginning.
This is wear drawing instruction comes in as a prerequisite to more difficult mediums such as oil or watercolors.
Why do we teach our fine art students drawing before we proceed with fine art painting instruction?
The reason is that fine art fundamentals, such as tone, shading, light and shadow, and working with color are much easier to get across to fine art student with pencil and charcoal than the more difficult mediums of paint.
