Watercolor can be difficult to work with as a new fine art student. This is wear drawing instruction comes in.
Why do we teach our fine art students drawing before we proceed with fine art painting instruction?
The reason is that fine art fundamentals, such as tone, shading, light and shadow, and working with color are much easier to get across to fine art student with pencil and charcoal than with more difficult mediums such as oil paint or watercolor.
