Mission Renaissance Fine Art
Student Awards Gallery

This original work of fine art is a self portrait of Katherine Luna.

Katherine was an art student at Mission Renaissance and received countless awards and accolades for her artwork. She is currently working on her Ph.D. in physics at Stanford.

Already a published author here is no doubt in our minds that Katherine is going to go onto to very big things. It would be of no surprise us at all to see her self portraits fetching high sums of money as a result of her future fame coupled with her excellent technique and execution in her art.

Have you ever had the dream to become an artist? Have friends and family told you that you couldn't do it, or do you feel that you just don't have enough "natural talent".

Nothing could be further from the truth! Do not listen to them. Or if the doubt comes from your own mind, don't listen to you either!

Look, we have over 30 years of experience of teaching others how to draw and paint. Currently we teach over 3,000 student a week visual arts. We like to think we know something about teaching art.

Learning to draw and paint is just like learning any other technical skill. The surgeon does not walk into surgery without education, practice, proper internship, and experience, relying only on his "natural talent" he was born with to start cutting into a patient. Of course not.

Same with this web site, the webmaster wasn't born with the talent to build web sites.

In both cases education, practice, and drilling were involved.

The same goes with art, anyone can learn the fundamentals of tone, use of light and shadow, drawing in proportion, perspective, and use of color. These are all fundamentals that are part of the learnable technique of drawing and painting!

And yes you can learn to draw beautifully, even if all you can do currently is draw stick figures poorly.
