Mission Renaissance Fine Art
Student Awards Gallery

At Mission Renaissance we actually teach the fundamentals of art. You will not find the lazy attitude of "if it feels good then do it" that pervades so much of modern instruction in our schools. This method may work in the teaching of abstract art, but has no place in the instruction of fine art.

Here you see Katherine reproducing a piece by Renoir. Studying the masters and seeing why they did what they did, or how they went about bringing about that perspective or how they used color in this particular instance is an invaluable drill for any student learning how to paint and how to paint well.

Katherine's amazing journey in becoming an amazing artist began with learning the fundamentals of drawing.

Just as with any of our students she worked very hard and diligently through all or her lessons and drills.

Over time skill and comfort with the visual arts not only allow for the recreation of the masters works, but the ability to create ones own original art!
