BURBANK - Passengers rushing to catch their planes at Burbank-Glendale-Pasadena Airport might have more reason now to slow down and take a look around.

Forty-six pieces of art line a 75-foot wall of Terminal B, courtesy of the Airport Authority and Glendale-based Larry Gluck's Mission Renaissance.

Mission Renaissance is a children's fine art program founded in 1975. "We thought that it would be a nice addition for the people who were waiting with all the strain and stress of traveling today," Gluck said. "We thought it would help eliminate some of the stress and put some happiness into the waiting process. Plus, it's a way to exhibit the work for the kids and give them a sense of pride and self-esteem."

The art includes paintings of animals, American flags and landscapes. The artists range in age from 4 to 13 years.

"I've been going to the class for about a year and a half, but I've always been drawing at home since I was like 6 years old," said Glendale resident Jonathan Ondrejko, 13.

Ondrejko's painting of a frog is on display at the airport, but the fame hasn't gone to the young artist's head.

"I didn't get real excited like jumping up and down all over the place or anything, but it feels good," he said of his debut into the public art world.

The art show will remain on display indefinitely, said Airport Authority spokesman Victor Gill.

"We're pleased as punch to have it," he said Friday. "I hope that a lot of travelers will find their way into that corridor because they'll get a real treat, especially when they see this art by these very, very talented young student artists."

The airport is at 2627 Hollywood Way in Burbank.
